Bad Breath in Essex ? Halitosis In Essex?

How Can i tell if i have bad breath?

Lots of small signals can show that you have bad breath.Have you noticed people stepping away when you start to talk? Do people turn their cheek when you kiss them goodbye?

If you think you might have bad breath, there is a simple test that you can do. Simply lick the inside of your wrist and sniff- if the smell is bad, you can be pretty sure that your breath is too!

Or ask a very good friend to be absolutely honest, but do make sure they are a true friend.

What causes bad breath?

Bad Breath is very common problem and there are many different causes.

Persistent bad breath is usually caused by the smelly gases released by the bacteria that coat your teeth and gums.

Bits of food that get caught between the teeth and on the tongue will decay and can sometimes cause an unpleasant smell.

So correct and regular brushing is very important to keep your breath smelling fresh.

However, strong foods like garlic , coffee and onions can add to the problem.

The bacteria on our teeth and gums plaque also causes gum disease and dental decay.
One of the warning signs of gum disease is that you always have bad breath or a bad taste in your mouth.

The earlier you contact us on 01375481000 @ Chafford Hundred Dental Care Drake Road Grays Essex RM16 6SE the better!

What else causes Bad Breath?

Bad Breath can also be caused by some medical conditions like Dry Mouth Xerostomia.
This is a condition that affects the flow of salivia. This in turn causes bacteria to build up in the mouth and this leads to bad breath!

Other medical conditions that cause bad breath include
1. infections in the throat.
2. infections in the nose or lungs.
3.sinusitis
4.bronchitis
5.diabetes.
6.Liver or kidney problems.
7.Smoking.

Tooth Knocked Out? Emergency Dentist in Essex!

An Avulsed Tooth is one that has been knocked out!

A tooth can be knocked out for a number of reasons-often a blow to the mouth or an accident involving the face. This can happen for example during contact sports.

It is possible to replace the tooth in the socket sucessfully if the right action is taken as soon as possible.

If you are Bleeding than Dont Panic!! Get a clean handkerchief and fold it up, then hold it over the socket and bite down.

Keep your jaws together to apply pressure. If you need something for the pain, dont take any medication containing aspirin as this can encourage further bleeding.

Do not put oil of clove to the wound!!

If you still have the complete tooth -it maybe replaced.

The whole tooth needs to be replaced in the socket as soon as possible, ideally in under 30 minutes. But teeth have been replaced up to 60 minutes after being knocked out!

Avoid handling the root of the tooth. If it is dirty, rinse it with milk and wipe it clean with a clean cloth.

Do not clean it with disinfectant or water or let it dry out!!

Your tooth will have more chance of survival if you keep it in your cheek until you can get emergency dental care at Chafford Hundred Dental Care, Drake Road, Grays , Essex, RM16 6SE ON 013754810000.

If you have only part of the tooth it is not a good idea to put the tooth back into the socket If it is not complete. You may need dental xrays to see if there is any root damage!

If you cannot find the tooth, you may have swallowed it. If you think you may have swallowed or inhaled it, you may need an xray to be sure of it.

We would not recommend reimplanting a baby tooth in case an infection damaged the adult tooth underneath.

Give us a call on 01375481000 asap and visit our website www.basrai.co.uk

Tooth Whitening in Essex!

Natural Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is the latest fad in cosmetic dentistry. Everyone wants to make their teeth shine whiter and brighter. To accommodate the increasing demand there are several means available to whiten teeth. There is also an entire range of prices for teeth whitening products and services. However there are some who want to avoid the use of too many chemicals on their teeth to achieve the whitening. For them, there are several natural ways of whitening teeth that are not expensive and make use of things easily available around the house.

A natural whitening agent is a combination of lemon juice and table salt. Rubbing these together on your teeth will help clear milder stains. However, excessive use will cause erosion of your teeth and consequently tooth decay and bigger dental bills!

Another common household ingredient that is a natural whitening agent is sodium bicarbonate more commonly known as baking soda. You can make a thick paste using baking soda and water and brush your teeth with it to whiten your teeth.

Many people even use oranges as whitening tools. Rubbing the back of the orange peel on your teeth helps whiten them. Adding salt to the orange peel also increases the effectiveness.

Glycerine which is another natural product can be combined with baking soda to make a whitening gel. This can be applied to lighten the colour of teeth.

Whatever you use to whiten your teeth, smoking and excessive coffee drinking will reduce the effects and continue staining them.

The best results are achieved by scheduling an appointment with us on 01375481000 to get the safest and optimum results.

Cosmetic Dentistry- What it Can Do For You!

Why Cosmetic Dentistry Can Work For You?

Whether we like it or not, it’s a sad but true reality that people do judge a book by it’s cover. You get only one chance to make a first impression.

Cosmetic Dentistry offers both physical and psychological benefits. An unattractive mouth can make you miserable, but a dazzling smile can improve your self-esteem. The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry did a study that revealed 96% of Adults believe that an attractive smile makes you more appealing to the opposite sex.

While 3 out of 4 people feel an unattractive smile can hurt your chances for success in your career. Reason being: a smile can also speak volumes about your health, how you take care of yourself, and how old you look.

Now it is time for you to learn how you can capitalize on your smile. You will be amazed how many people used to lead sad, misunderstood lives: beautiful people cursed with less-than-beautiful smiles that didn’t reflect and radiate who they were on the inside.

Maybe you, too, feel ashamed of your teeth. (Or simply want to improve and enhance your smile).

Either way..the great thing about cosmetic dentistry is that a new smile will make your ‘overall’ package more complete. Most of our patient’s spouses, family members, or people who know them will say something like,

“Susie was beautiful before her smile makeover. But now, she is stunningly gorgeous!”

As a Dentist, and smile artist, I couldn’t say it better myself and am so proud to be able to assist patients in this process.

Here are some of the reasons “Why Our Patients Have Chosen Cosmetic Dentistry”:

1. Straighten Teeth: if you have crooked or crowded teeth you can have your teeth straightened with a number of different methods. Some faster than others.

2. Whiten Teeth: with our whitening system, your teeth can be 7-14 shades whiter in as little as 1 hour!

3. Gummy Smile to a beautiful healthy smile!

4. Perfect Teeth: whether you feel like your teeth are too small or too long, cosmetic dentistry can solve this.

5. Look Younger! After you receive cosmetic dental work you will hear comments from friends and family who will now tell you that you look younger. Sometimes they don’t even know what the change was!

6. Feel More Confident! You can smile bright, wide, and laugh with as much enthusiasm as you’d like. No more worrying about your teeth and/or what others think.

7. Stabilize Teeth: if you are missing a tooth or your teeth don’t fit well. We can align your teeth and make sure your teeth function correctly. This allows you to enjoy the foods that you like and smile with confidence.

8. Missing Teeth? With the power of Dental Implants and Cosmetic Dentistry you can have a new tooth or new teeth quickly. This allows you to have stronger teeth and enjoy the foods you like.

9. Feel Young Again! I can’t explain it, but it’s proven that our patients not only experience more joy and confidence. But they also feel younger. A smile can spark a new sense of rejuvenation and youthfulness!

Plus, many many more reasons…but you get the idea!

My final thoughts: Rumi, a thirteenth-century Persian poet, told the story of a little girl who lost her smile. She wakes up one morning and turns a city gray because only her smile can bring out the sun.

When she smiles again, the sun shines once more in all its glory.

I’ve seen this time and time again with our patients and I wish the best for you and/or your family.

We Are Thinking Of You! Dr J Basrai Cosmetic Dentist In Essex!

A few weeks ago, you requested a free report from us
with tons of information about how you can have a
strong, healthy, and awesome smile no matter what
your current dental condition may be.

We were concerned that we haven’t heard from you and
surprised that you haven’t taken advantage of our
limited time offer.

We don’t know what might be holding you back. BUT,
we do know what other people with dental problems
have told us about their concerns and fears and
how that effected how they felt about their teeth
and smile.

• “It’s been too long since I have been to the
dentist.” Our only concern for you is what we can
do right now. And we can’t help you if we don’t see you.

• “I’m embarrassed”. Our promise to you is our
staff and we will remove all the embarrassment,
guilt, and negative feelings you have and concentrate
on moving you forward to build sense of trust,
self-confidence, and a new fully positive experience.

• “I’m afraid”. Good news, you found a place that
will take great care of you. Many of our patients
come in afraid, nervous, or anxious about going to
the Dentist, but with modern technology that allows
us to make your visit comfortable, our patients leave with
a new sense of confidence and control the next time
they come back.

• “I don’t know if I can afford this”. If you are
worried about the money, we don’t blame you.
Especially if you are looking to invest in Dental
Implants or Cosmetic Dentistry. However, financing
your dental care is just as easy as financing furniture
these days.

The most important thing when it comes to money, you
need to view it as an investment. You can view a lot
of things as a cost, but a healthy smile isn’t one of
them. Some people would rather spend their money on
a brand new car…however a car instantly drops in value
the moment you take it off the lot. Some of our
patients rather invest in a healthy smile and the
possibility of adding 10 years into their lives.
Some couples decide to give each other a brand new
smile as an Anniversary present or a Birthday Gift!

Come in and be given the VIP treatment. You won’t be
“sold” on a thing. We are here to help you make the
best decision for you. We are committed to creating
a no-pressure, guilt-free zone that allows our patients
to enjoy the experience of choosing the smile they’ve
always wanted!

Committed to Transforming Lives

Just Imagine!

You could also experience the overall quality of life which is
enhanced with replacement teeth that look, feel and function
more like natural teeth. You could look younger and more
attractive which allows you to be even more confident and
enjoy smiling, laughing, and talking with others.

Today, I want to talk about another common experience that
many of our patients’ reports after completing their new,
strong, healthy, and beautiful smile.

Remember I told you about a special patient, Mary, and how
her story was similar to many of our patients here in the office.

Mary reported her sister came for a visit and was shocked how
good Mary looked. Mary didn’t tell her she had just completed
care with dental implants and let her sister guess what was different.

“Did you lose weight? Something is different about you… I
just can’t put my finger on it.” Mary didn’t tell her.

Later that night when they met some old friends of dinner, Mary’s
sister just kept staring. Mary was having a wonderful time.
Mary’s sister on the other hand, wasn’t.

During the meal, Mary’s sister had to excuse herself to the bathroom
because her dentures slipped and she needed to apply more denture adhesive.

That’s when Mary told her sister her secret.

Mary told me that her sister said “give me your dentist’s name and
number, I am going in too! I want my smile to be as beautiful as yours.”

Committed to transforming your life

Cosmetic Dentist Essex Wants You!

We have to admit, we am worried about you.

We know you have interest in finding out how you
can have the healthy, strong smile you want and
deserve but we still haven’t heard from you.

For most people, making choices about their dental
health is one of the biggest decisions they need to
make in their entire life.

If you are missing teeth, wearing dentures, have
chipped, cracked teeth, or any dental problem that
is concerning you, please know that ALL treatments
are NOT the same.

It’s very important for you to have all the information
needed to make the correct decision and be able to ask
questions to a dentist you trust to handle your
situation most carefully.

That’s why we have been sending you reports and emails
to get you all the information you need.

We’ve found that when people don’t get answers, they
continue to live with whatever situation they are
experiencing. That is why we are committed to educating
the public and helping people make the best decision
for them.

For some people requesting this report is something
they do out of frustration. Others come to us, because
they have seen the miracle makeovers that are done on
the T.V. Show “Extreme Makeover” and they want to know
if we can do the same thing for them with their smile.
The answer, in most cases, is YES!

Either way, we hope you have benefited from the
information we’ve been sending your way and hopefully
it answers some of your most pressing questions.

If it didn’t answer every question, or you need more
information, just give us a call and we’ll do our best
to give you everything you need.

Whiplash Injuries go Untreated!

Whiplash Injuries Go Untreated!

One in three people exposed to whiplash trauma is at risk of developing clicking, locking or pain in their jaw. This pain can develop over a year after the initial accident.

"The jaw joint is sensitive and very susceptible to whiplash injuries." Comments Dr. Jagmail Basrai of Chafford 100 Dental Care at Drake Road, Grays. "When people are involved in an accident they often focus on more obvious injuries and don't realise they have damaged their jaw. Symptoms can take some time to develop. The effect of jaw problems can be very painful."

Jaw joint problems can cause headaches, earaches, tenderness of the jaw, clicking sounds, neck and shoulder pain, even dizziness and ringing in the ears. If undetected permanent damage to the jaw bone and teeth can result. Medical research indicates that people who have undergone trauma to the face are five times more likely to develop symptoms.

"Problems with the jaw joint are difficult to detect and treat," explains Dr, Jagmail Basrai. "If you have been involved in any sort of accident or have had a blow to the face you should consult a dentist. We have sophisticated equipment to monitor the condition of the joint and spot problems early."

I have Previously talked about the cosmetic
and confidence issues associated with a new strong,
healthy, beautiful smile.

Today, we want to talk about the health aspects and how
your life could improve.

You could now live longer, because you’ll get to eat
better and prevent malnutrition or stomach problems!

Fresh vegetables, corn, and fruits are back on the menu!
You can now eat the foods you like. Also, since your
chewing is improved, your digestion will be even better
as well!

• The link between the loss of teeth from gum disease
and the increased risk of stroke and heart attack has
been well researched. When the teeth are lost, the
damage the gum disease created doesn’t go away. The
body has been permanently weakened.

• Research at the University of Maryland Department
of Nutrition shows that the “dietary quality and
intake of certain nutrients was poorer among the group
with self-perceived ill fitting dentures than those with
natural teeth or will fitting dentures”.

• A recent study out of London found that food “rich
in nutrients like nuts, apples and raw carrots could
not be eaten easily for over 50%” of people with
denture.

• Research at the University Dental School in Ireland
showed patients “reported a significant improvement in
satisfaction and health related quality of life as did
patients who received” traditional dentures.

World renowned Mayo Clinic has reported research that
has shown that full denture wearers have an alarmingly
shorter life expectancy - by ten years - than the general
public.

Smiles by Basrai Cosmetic Dentist in Essex!

Here are more of the secrets we promised!

Stop your child's thumb sucking habits before
his permanent teeth come in usually by the age of
six. Sucking on a thumb or pacifier is a natural
and satisfying behavior for babies. This is why
we don’t want to force them to stop before then.

However, the habit can alter the position of baby's
developing teeth and the dental arches if it
continues after his permanent teeth begin to erupt.

Fortunately, the damage is usually self-correcting,
unless your youngster continues the habit much past
the age of six. If you are having trouble getting
your child to stop sucking his thumb, your dentist
may be able to offer some advice.

Make sure your child gets the benefits of the
latest in cavity prevention, including fluorides
and sealants. If you use bottled water, fluoride
supplements are generally prescribed at age three,
when all the baby teeth are in.

Have your dentist apply a sealant to protect the
biting surfaces of the molars. These are generally
applied when the six-year molars come in. Sealants
are nearly 100 percent effective in preventing cavities
on the biting surfaces of molars, the most cavity-prone
area of the mouth. They are approximately one-half the
cost of a filling.

Do not give your child a bottle at night with juice
or milk. If your child must have a bottle at bedtime,
dilute it with water or use a pacifier.

If your child uses a pacifier, don't dip it in any
sweetener. Some doctors have taught this in the past
and it is not a good idea!

Warm Regards

TOOTH DECAY IS NOT CAUSING TOOTH LOSS! Report by Dr J Basrai

TOOTH DECAY IS NOT CAUSING TOOTH LOSS

The major cause of tooth loss in adults is not decay - it's periodontal (gum) disease. And it's completely painless right up to an advanced stage. More than half of all the people over age 18 have at least the early stage of periodontal disease. After 35 about three out of four adults are affected.

"People with periodontal disease do not realise it." Explains Dr Jagmail Basrai of Chafford 100 Dental Care at Drake Road, Grays. "If you have bad breath, red gums, loose teeth or bleeding when you brush; there is a good chance you have the problem. The end result, if untreated, is tooth loss or worse." Gum disease has been linked to an increased risk of heart disease!

During regular visits to the dentist and hygienist early signs of gum disease will be identified. You will be taught how to brush and floss so as to prevent the problem occurring. Any condition can be treated painlessly and quickly in a few short appointments.

"If your eye balls bleed you would go to the doctor immediately. When your gums bleed you should go to your dentist." advises Dr Jagmail Basrai.

For more information and an informative interview, call Dr Jagmail Basrai on 01375 481000.

Cavity Free Children! Report by Cosmetic Dentist in Essex Dr J Basrai!

Today, we wanted to point out a couple of \keys and secrets
that you can start today in raising cavity free kids!

The key to a child's first visit to the dentist is that
a the visit should be a fun experience. That way when
they leave it’s a not a negative thing, but they think,
“Hey, this doctor’s office is a fun place to visit”

So when they get back home the have a positive feeling,
then when they come back again and they’re familiar with
it they’re actually going to enjoy it. Our philosophy is,
teach the kids to enjoy being at the dentist, that way
if they need something done, they are more likely to
cooperate.

For most of the kids when we look in their mouth on
their initial visit, there’s really not going to be
much going on since they’re only three years old. When
they leave they get a toothbrush and a great prize, and
they had fun. So after that first enjoyable visit they
will just come back in six months.

Parents seem to like that, because the kids we treat grow
up without any fear of going to the dentist. Whereas if
their early visits to the dentists aren’t fun - well
they’re not going to want to come back!

Secrets For Raising Cavity Free Kids!

1. Begin cleaning your baby's mouth with a clean gauze
pad the first week the child is brought home from the
hospital. Although most babies don't have any teeth until
about six months of age, a daily cleaning in infancy will
get your child accustomed to the process, and ensure clean
and healthy gums when the teeth do come in.

2. By starting early, your baby is more likely to accept
your cleaning her teeth later, when it is necessary to
prevent tooth decay. Incorporate a toothbrush and fluoride
toothpaste into the routine by the time your child reaches
18 months, or at the time her first molars come in.

3. Kids need to start visiting the dentist no later than
age 3 and if you have any question as early as age 1.
Although baby teeth will eventually fall out, they are
very important to your child's dental development. That
is because the muscles of her mouth and jaw form around
the foundation laid by her first set of teeth. The dentist
can make sure your child's dental development is proceeding
normally with checkups every six months.

TMJ Problems In Essex! By Cosmetic Dentist Dr J Basrai

We see all the time with people who are experiencing headache pain,
migraines, or jaw pain, is that they have tried just about everything.

They feel hopeless, frustrated, and helpless.

"nothing can change what is going on!" they say.

"I've tried it all..."

We need to ask you a favor: suspend your disbelief for a minute and give
us a chance to help you.

Did you know that many people who suffer from chronic headaches and migraines can be helped by an unlikely source; their dentist!

Dental professionals have made great headway in providing relief to headache
sufferers through greater understanding of the relationship between the
joints in the jaw and the role it plays in head and facial pain.

The syndrome that many people who experience chronic head and facial pain is
called "TMJ" syndrome which stands for: TemporoMandibular Joint Syndrome.

Your TMJ is basically the main joint in your jaw.

You have two TMJs, one in front of each ear, connecting the lower jaw bone
to the skull. The joints allow movement up and down, side to side, and forward and
back—all the mobility necessary for biting, chewing and swallowing food,
for speaking and for making facial expressions.

TMJ syndrome is a medical problem related to the joints in the jaw. Problems with the TMJ can cause head and neck pain, problems biting, as well as clicking sounds
when you chew or even a locked jaw.

The National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) of the
National Institutes of Health (NIH) says that over 10 million people in the United
States suffer from TMJ problems at any given time. While both men and women experience TMJ problems, the majority of those seeking treatment are women in their childbearing years.

Not all causes of TMJ syndrome are known. Some possible causes or contributing factors are injuries to the jaw area, various forms of arthritis, dental procedures, genetics,
hormones, low-level infections, auto-immune diseases, stretching of the jaw as
occurs with inserting a breathing tube before surgery, and clenching or grinding of the teeth.

The most common symptom of TMJ syndrome is pain. TMJ pain is often described as a dull aching pain in the jaw joint and nearby areas, including the ear, which comes
and goes.

Some people, however, report no pain, but still have problems using their jaws.

Other Symptoms Can Include:
* Being unable to open the mouth comfortably
* Clicking, popping or grating sounds in the jaw joint
* Locking of the jaw when attempting to open the mouth
* Headaches
* A bite that feels uncomfortable or “off”
* Neck, shoulder and back pain
* Swelling on the side of the face
* Ringing in the ears
* Ear pain
* Decreased hearing
* Dizziness and vision problems.

Keep in mind that occasional discomfort in the jaw joint or chewing muscles is common,
and is not always a cause for concern. Many people with certain TMJ problems get
better without treatment. Often the problem goes away on its own in several weeks to months.

However, if the pain is severe and lasts more than a few weeks, we recommend coming inand letting us do an evaluation so that we can see if we can help you.

Invisalign Essex . Invisible Dental Braces Essex.

Did you know that having crowded teeth can cause them to function improperly?

The Reason is: Our body was made to work together in synergy.

When teeth are crooked, they can become worn down and sensitivity and
chipping can occur. Also, more stress is placed on certain areas that usually
can’t handle these forces.

This can result in gum disease and erosion of the jawbone. Not a good scenario!

We would much rather straighten someone’s teeth to prevent major dental problems
than having someone spend thousands of dollars trying to repair severely damaged teeth.

Does this make sense? Well, that's where new technology in Dentistry can really help!

Did you know there are several ways to improve your smile whether they are crooked
and / or discolored?

Did you know we have the technology to straighten those crooked teeth without metal braces?

It’s true. This technology is called Invisalign(TM).

It consists of a series of clear plastic aligner trays that slip over your teeth.
Each aligner gently moves the crooked teeth into position in as little as 5 months.
When you get to the final aligner, your teeth are straight!

Pretty cool isn't it?

Well, if you'd like to come in to see if your are a candidate for Invisalign,

Botox For Armpits In Essex!

Don’t sweat it

There’s no secret handshake or password for our little underground club. We are the ones who choose clothes not for their fabric’s soft and sexy feel, but for its ability to mask the not-so-discreet wetness crescents under our arms. We are the ones who, while stopping in at the loo, ever-so-quietly take a moment to blot our armpits. We are hyperhidrosis.

Hyperhidrosis is the condition of excessive sweating, and occurs most commonly on the hands and feet, the face or in the underarm area, among other places. But there is a solution to this annoying condition—BOTOX!

Believe it or not, Botox is used to combat excessive sweating that occurs in the underarm area, specifically known as primary axillary hyperhidrosis. If topical antiperspirants haven’t been keeping your underarms high and dry, come and see us at Smile and Face Studios @ Chafford Hundred Dental Care and request Botox Treatment.

By blocking the communication between the nerves and the sweat glands, it temporarily stops the sweating.

The treatment involves multiple injections and takes a few weeks to kick in, but once it starts working it lasts for up to six months. So raise those hands high up in the air (with no fear of the consequences of doing so), and give a sweat-free cheer for Botox!

Women and Temporomandibuar Joint Disorder.

If you are one of the thousands of women who suffer from tenderness in the jaw
muscles, limited jaw opening, jaws that get stuck, unexplained facial or head pain,
jaw grating or clicking, you may have a condition called TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT
DISORDER TMD.

Treating TMD has long been a challenge and there is no simple prescription, but recent
research seems to confirm that women are particularly susceptible and that there
is a hormonal link.

According to some studies, 90% of patients seeking relief for the problem are women
of childbearing age.

It has been observed that women's lower jaws tend to be smaller which may contribute
to headaches and other forms of pain.

Here are some tips for both women and men who experience a sore jaw joint.

If the soreness continues or if you have any of the symptoms we have outlined ,
please phone us for a consultation on 01375481000.

DONT!!!!

1. Chew gum for a while.

2. Open your mouth any wider than an inch or so.
Eat smaller sized pieces of food!

3. Chew caramels,firm bread crusts,nuts,raw vegetables, or
Leathery meats.

4. Chew Ice Cubes!

5. Jut out your lower jaw to apply lipstick or lip balm.

Do!!!!

jaw than opening your mouth.

2. Sleep on your back, rather than on your side, and dont support
your face on your arms or fists.

3. Avoid stress. When you cant, avoid jaw clenching by holding your
teeth apart while your lips are together.

TMJ Problems In Essex! By Cosmetic Dentist Dr J Basrai

Tympani's Symphony.

You probably didnt realise that your ear bones and your jawbones started out as
one and the same.

As your body developed, the bones separated, but because the same nerve that controls
the tensor tympani muscles in your ear controls your chewing muscles, your jaws
and ears can share the same muscle pain.

And that symphony of noises that you hear-the ringing, clicking, popping or grating-may
actually originate in your jaw.

Other symptoms that could indicate dental problems include feelings of pressure
or dizziness, excessive ear wax and difficulty clearing your ears.

How can you tell if ear symptoms are dentally related??

Dentally related ear pain is usually felt in one ear and can feel very deep.
It can spread to the temple or the back of the head.
You may have muscle soreness around your jaw joints or a sideways shifting of the
jaw when you open wide.

The most common cause of jaw related problems is a BAD BITE.

Your teeth must meet every time you swallow-over 2,000 times every day and night!

If your bite is unbalanced due to misaligned teeth, the muscles must work harder
to bring the teeth together.

Eventually the chewing muscles can become fatigued, they become shortened and they
may even go into painful spasms.

If you have any of these symptoms, please give us a ring on 01375481000.

Your Smile Is More Than Your Teeth.

When we look at beautiful smiles, its easy to focus on the teeth, but if you look
closely, you will see that there is more to a youthful, dazzling smile.
Pink, healthy gums surrounding sparkling teeth also send out a message of health
and youth. If you really want a sunshine smile, take care of your periodontal health.

Tobacco use, stress, medications, systemic disease,or fluctuating hormonal levels during
puberty, pregnancy,or menopause can all affect the health of your gums.

The earliest stage, known as gingivitis, is characterised by red swollen gums that bleed
easily.

Periodontal disease is progressive if untreated, and in later stages, only professional dental
intervention can help. Advanced periodontal Disease can lead to severe inflammation
bone loss ,gum recession, and tooth loss.

Dont wait for that to happen!

Cosmetic Dentist Essex Report on Gum Disease!

Who Is At risk of Gum Disease?

By the age of thirty five , 74% of adults are affected by periodontal ie gum
disease. If untreated gum disease leads to bad breath, swollen and bleeding
gums and tooth loss. It has also been linked to am incresed risk of heart disease.

Some people seem to be more susceptible than others. Anything from pregnancy,
systemic disease like diabetes and certain medications can contribute to its
development.

Smoking increases the likelihood dramatically.

Some unlucky folk are inherently more susceptible because of the unique bacterial
and chemical mixes in the mouth that encourage plagues.

But there is some good news. Once you have been diagnosed we can start on a treatment
programme that invoves the mechanical removal of plaque and smoothing the root
surface of the teeth so gum tissue has a chance to reattach.

As a co-therapist, we will depend on you to continue the work at home.

Its critical to the success of your treatment that you

1. Brush and Floss twice a day.

2. Come in Regularly as a dentist can get your teeth their cleanest.

3.Maintain a healthy diet.

Cosmetic Dentist Essex! Tooth Decay is not causing Tooth Loss.

Tooth Decay is not causing Tooth loss.

The major cause of tooth loss in adults is not decay-its periodontal ie gum

Disease. And its completely painless right up to an advanced stage.

More than half of all the people over the age of 18 have at least the early stages of

periodontal disease. After 35 about 3 out of 4 adults are affected.

People with gum disease do not realise it. If you have bad breath, red gums,

loose teeth or bleeding when you brush, there is a good chance you have the

problem.

The end result if untreated is tooth loss or worse. Gum Disease has been linked to an incresed

risk of heart disease!

During regular visits to our dental office at Smile and FACE Dental Studios @

Chafford 100 Dental Care early signs of gum disease will be identified.

You will be taught how to brush and floss so as to prevent the problem occurring.

Any condition can be treated painlessly and quickly in a few short appointments.

Why Avoiding The Dentist is Bad Economics!

Most people have better things to do than visit the dentist. Even with a lost filling

or a broken tooth most people will put off the visit for a week or two or until

their next scheduled visit. That could end up as a very costly mistake.

Teeth break for a reason!

If we can fix the problem quickly we can usually save the tooth. Leaving the problem

will increase the chance of needing an extraction and more expensive restorative

work.

Prevention is always the cheapest long term option. It costs the average dental

patient less to have their teeth checked and cleaned than it does for the same patient

to have his or her hair cut each year.

Prevention is the key to health and happiness when it comes to safeguarding your

most unique personal assets- your smile!

There are many painless ways we can help people keep their teeth healthy.

With regular visits to our dental office at Smile and FACE Dental Studio you should keep

your teeth all your life.

The Perfect Smile in Essex by Cosmetic Dentist Dr J Basrai

The Perfect Smile!

Scientists have researched exactly what it takes to create a perfect smile.

Several factors were considered including the size and width of each tooth,

the curve, colour and shape of the teeth and the width of the mouth.

The colour of the teeth is very important, however research concluded that

extremely bleached teeth should be avoided.

Teeth should be the same color as the whiteness of the eyes, otherwise the smile

stands out too much.

If the teeth are too white, they become more dominant than the eyes.

A number of mathematical ratios determine the perfect smile.

The width of the teeth should be 80% of the height.

To prevent a horsey smile no more than 2mms of the gums should be showing and should

be healthy pink in colour.

Tooth Brush Sharing -Friend or Foe??

Tooth Brushing Sharing - Friend or Foe??

Most Britons would be happy to lend their toothbrush to somebody else.

According to a survey by the British Dental Foundation, 60% of people

would be willing to let their partner, children, Friends and even

celebrities borrow their toothbrush.

Dr J Basrai comments ' Sharing a toothbrush leaves people susceptible to

oral and general health problems.

Whilst this may be something relatively harmless, such as a common cold

or cold sore, if the person you are sharing with is infected with hepatitis B

or HIV these could also be passed on via the toothbrush with life threatening

consequences.'

Men are more protective of their toothbrush than women with almost half saying

they would not lend their brush to anyone, as opposed to only a third of women.

Occasional sharing a toothbrush with a family member in an emergency is better

than not brushing your teeth at all, in terms of preventing teeth decay.

However, i would not encourage it as a frequent event concludes Dr J Basrai.

Periodontal Diseases threaten all women

Periodontal diseases threaten all women

Women aged 20 to 35 who are taking oral contraceptive pills are likely to be at greater risk of bleeding gums and deep periodontal pockets. Post menopausal women are also at risk of having bacteria in their mouth that can cause bone loss.

Dr J. Basrai explains, "As the hormone balance in women's bodies changes there is an effect on the condition of the gums. Loosening of the gums around the teeth allow bacteria to enter. If untreated this can lead to bone loss and the teeth falling out."

"Women should keep their dentists informed of medication and changes in their life. Serious conditions can be avoided with preventative treatments. Regular visits to the hygienist are an important part of oral health," says Dr J. Basrai. "Knowing your pocket size' depth can be a good way for women to keep track of their periodontal health. Pockets of one to two millimetres with no bleeding are not a concern. Pockets of three and four millimetres may need a more in depth cleaning."

Razzle Dazzle your new Smile with Cosmetic Dentist in Essex by Dr J Basrai

Lets be honest- even the healthy, young and attractive want to look MORE healthy, young and attractive.

The problem for many of us is how to get there from here! Well, according to a study by Procter and Gamble, it may be as simple as flashing a healthy, dazzling smile.

The study asked people to rate two photos of the same subject. Respondents were not informed that a slightly whiter tooth colour had been added digitally to the teeth in one of the photos. Each participant looked at twenty pair of images. The Results?

An overwhelming majority-90%-thought the enhanced photos showed healthier, more attractive people than the photos of same people with duller, less white teeth, regardless of age, gender or ethnic background.

The whiteness of your teeth does affect how other people see you. And there is an added benefit:

92% of people agree that white , healthy look teeth help them feel better about themselves.

If you want a razzle dazzle smile come in and ask us about your options.

A Work of Art? Tooth Whitening Essex. Dental Veneers Essex.

When Leonardo da Vinci painted portraits, he used the principle of Divine Proportion, based on a mathematical formula originally applied to create eye -pleasing balance in Greek and Egyptian architecture.

We use the same principle with non surgical cosmetic smile makeovers to create beautiful and enduring smiles that harmonise with a persons age, lifestyle, ambition, and physical appearance. We do it by looking at your smile the way an artist does. Your smile and face are our canvas. The proportions of your face affect the proportions of your smile-and your smile can illuminate your face. We consider the shape of your teeth that will give your face the most pleasing dimensions.

Stained teeth can add age to our smiles, but a smile that is too white can look out of place on a person in the prime of life.

Our teeth tend to get shorter with wear as we get older. Tooth lengthening is an effective solution. Laughing lines and wrinkles can sometimes be erased by using dental techniques to fill out the facial areas.

And if you have a charming irregularity thats your personal signature, we can enhance your overall smile and retain your individuality. Your smile will look totally natural.

How do we turn artistic inspiration into reality??

Tooth whitening is one of the simplest and most popular procedures for revitalising a smile. Many studies show that most of us perceive a brighter smile to be more youthful and attractive.

Dental Veneers can applied to widen your teeth, lengthen them or add thickness to broaden your smile.

Dental Implants Essex. Now More Affordable.

More people than ever before are choosing dental implants as the preferred tooth replacement therapy.

According to an USA survey , the average number of surgically placed dental implants has increased by almost 50% in the past 5 years.

Thats because people are discovering that dental implants not only feel secure and stable, allowing them to speak and eat clearly, but they look so natural as well.

And there is another bonus, because dental implants help prevent bone loss, they can also help to maintain a more youthful appearance.

Dental implants are based on sound science. They have withstood the test of time and the procedure has been continually refined and improved since they were invented in 1952.

A titanium post will be placed into the bone to support a single replacement tooth, or a frame for several, beneath your gum. This dental implant than becomes biologically fused to your jawbone. The replacement tooth will then be secured to this implanted post , leaving you with a natural looking and fully functional smile.

Dental Crowns Essex. Cosmetic Dentist Essex.

Like a Force of Nature!

3 ways we can Crown your day.

Why is it that these days you cant tell whether someone's terrific smile is a gift of nature or has been revitalised by dentistry?
Its because fabolous restorative materials like porcelains and ceramics create crowns that are so beautiful and translucent that they look like natural enamel. They also resist chipping, staining, and cracks and are strong enough to withstand natural biting pressure. So your smile is not only better... it is completely natural looking.

Here is how!!

1. Cover your damaged tooth completely to protect and strengthen it with a single crown.

2. Fill a space from tooth loss due to decay, genectics or an accident by combining more than one crown with a bridge. This excellent option can prevent your other teeth from drifting and altering your ability to chew, speak, and socialise.

3. Create a permanent new tooth by incorporating a single crown onto the root of a dental implant placed into your jawbone.
Several crowns can be attached to an implant bridge and implants can also be used to secure a denture.
By anchoring implants permanently into your jawbone, the boneloss that normally accompanies the loss of a tooth is prevented.

Teosyal in Essex-New Dermal Filler by Cosmetic Dentist Dr J Basrai

Teosyal is the best of Hyaluronic acid HA.

It is manufactured in Switzerland and is highly biocompatible and slowly absorbed. Teosyal can be injected into the entire face.

Naturally present in the skin , HA preserves moisturising levels in the skin and boosts tone.

Teosyal is a POWERFUL MOISTURISING AGENT, the quantity of which the dermis gradually decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear. The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow.

Injected into the skin, Teosyal effectively ALLEVIATES this HA deficiency thanks to its high Hyaluronic Acid Concentration.

Teosyal Works in 3 ways!!

1.AN IMMEDIATE FILLING POTENTIAL. Teosyal is injected directly into the wrinkle. It lifts and instantly fills the lines by virtue of the volume thus created.

Right from the first injection, the wrinkle is markedly and visibly reduced. Cracks in the skin are repaired.

2. A LIFTING EFFECT. Teosyal is injected directly into the zones in which tissues relax, thus creating an immediate tightening and volume enhancing effect.

Thanks to this lifting effect, Teosyal gels offer a real alternative to plastic surgery when skin relaxation is not too marked, by redefining the facial contours.

This is why it is important to start treatment as soon as possible in order to delay any surgical procedure.

3.A POTENT MOISTURISING AGENT. Injected into the skin, Teosyal rehydrates skin tissues deep down. In their non cross linked form, Teosyal gels are capable of absorbing 1000 times their weight in water.

Amazing Facts for Botox and Restylane in Essex By Cosmetic Dentist

Considering non-surgical cosmetic procedures?

Introduction
The popularity of non-surgical cosmetic treatments such as botulinum toxin ( Botox® ) and dermal fillers (such as Restylane®) is growing, and these treatments are now offered by medical and dental clinics and beauty salons.

Some of these treatments have a permanent effect, but many only last for a few months. They do not involve surgery, but that does not mean that they are risk-free. They are invasive procedures and you should always think carefully about the benefits and risks before you have these treatments.

Who should carry out these treatments?
Although many of these treatments are currently available on the high street, this does not mean that they are all unregulated. Laser and intense pulsed light clinics must be regulated by the Healthcare Commission, and you should ask to see details of their current registration before agreeing to any treatments.

Botox® is a prescription-only medicine, and must be prescribed by a doctor or dentist and from 1 May 2006, Nurse Independent Prescribers are now able to prescribe Botox® and Vistabel® independently. Ask the prescriber if he or she is a:

doctor registered with the General Medical Council
dentist registered with the General Dental Council,
nurse registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council

Prescribers may delegate the administration to a suitably qualified and competent other person.

Do not have any treatment unless you can be satisfied that they meet the above requirements.

Other non-surgical cosmetic treatments are not currently regulated and are carried out in hospitals, clinics and beauty salons by doctors, dentists, nurses and beauty therapists. You must make sure that the person or people offering the treatment is adequately trained and sufficiently experienced to enable them to deliver the treatment competently and safely.

Questions you should ask when you are having Botox Dermal Filler Treatment!

If you are considering a non-surgical cosmetic treatment there are a number of questions you should ask to help you to decide whether to have a treatment and where to have it carried out.

Who will carry out the treatment?
How long have they been trained in this treatment and do they have a certificate of accreditation?
How frequently do they carry it out?
Do they have professional indemnity insurance?
Is the treatment right for me?
How long does the treatment take?
Is the treatment painful and if so what form of anaesthesia is used?
Is all equipment used sterile and used only for me?
For dermal fillers - what is the filler made of and do I need a test to find out if I am allergic to it?
For Botox® - will I see a doctor, dentist or an Independent Nurse Prescriber and will he or she prescribe the Botox®?
What are the risks involved?
Are there any other treatment options available for me to achieve the results I want?
Do you have any 'before and after' photographs that I can see?
What type of aftercare regime will I need after treatment?
Will I need pain relief following treatment?
Will I have swelling or bruising and can these be treated?
At what stage will I be able to judge the results of treatment?
Will I be reviewed after the treatment - and is this included in the price
How long do the results last?
What will be the cost of the treatment, including any materials I may need after it?
Will I need a course of treatments?

With the passing of time come the signs of aging. As we grow older, the signs of aging become more evident on our faces. Gravity, heredity, sun exposure and years of everyday facial movements, such as smiling, frowning, chewing, and squinting take their toll. These signs are seen as wrinkles, lines, creases and folds in the face. As the underlying tissue starts to weaken and break down the skin loses its smooth, firm appearance. If you are looking for a way to rejuvenate your face without surgery then Restylane may be for you.

There are various types of injectable cosmetic fillers on the market today. They are intended to add volume and smooth out wrinkles giving the skin a more youthful appearance. These soft tissue fillers, most commonly fat and collagen are injected beneath the skin to plump up areas of the face that may be creased or sunken in. They are also used to add plump up and add fullness to the lips and cheeks. Injectable fillers are often used in combination with other cosmetic procedures such as lasers and facelifts. The drawback to most of these types of fillers is that they often cause allergic reactions and the effects do not last very long.

Restylane is a non-animal, biodegradable gel based on hyaluronic acid. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane is a crystal-clear gel called NASHA or Non-Animal Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance present in all living organisms. This natural acid provides volume and fullness to an organism’s epidermis. Restylane is produced as a clear gel substance and is injected directly beneath the surface of the skin, which adds natural volume and lift resulting in smoother wrinkles and less prominent folds and creases in the face. Unlike rooster-derived hyaluronic acids and bovine collagen products, Restylane is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins

Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic filler that is immune to the drawbacks of other fillers because of its unique chemical composition. It is currently the first and only dermal filler approved by the FDA. What distinguishes Restylane from other dermal fillers is the way that it permeates the dermal tissue and naturally binds to water molecules. As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. This ability of hyaluronic acid to bind to water is what helps provide lasting results. Through this action, the modified water molecules assist in achieving and maintaining volume bearing a natural appearance.

The actual treatment itself is very brief. Receiving Restylane injections can take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated. Restylane can be used to either shape facial contours, smooth wrinkles, or sculpt lips.

For facial contours, the Restylane corrects deep folds and lifts up the skin from cheeks and chin. This provides a fuller shape for the chin or a rounder, more sensual line along the cheeks. For wrinkles, when the Restylane is injected, it procedures natural volume under the wrinkle, which lifts it up and smoothes it out. When using Restylane for lip augmentation, the gel is injected into the inside of the upper or lower lip. It is also injected along the lip line; this brings out a more youthful look and smoothes out the lips. During the treatment, the practitioner injects tiny amounts of Restylane into the skin using a very fine needle resulting in minimal discomfort. The practitioner may apply a topical anesthetic to the area being treated to minimize any discomfort. A local anesthetic is usually given before sculpting the lips. The results of the treatment can be seen immediately following the procedure and you may resume normal activity.

While the treatment does not require any downtime or follow up care, there are some precautions that should be taken. You must avoid alcohol and exercise for six hours after the treatment as well as refrain from touching the area that was treated. You may experience some redness or swelling after the treatment and sunbathing and cold outdoors activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappears. If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another recurrence. You may want to speak with your physician about any medications that can be taken to minimize the recurrence.

Restylane has been proven to be a safe procedure. Since it is non-animal based, it virtually eliminates the possibility of disease transmission or an allergic reaction. Adverse reactions are infrequent, however there is always potential for side effects with any cosmetic procedure. These include swelling, redness, bruising, tenderness and moderate pain, which will disappear within a week.

There are always factors that must be considered and discussed with your physician before having any type of cosmetic procedure. Since Restylane has proven to be a safe procedure most healthy adults prove to be good candidates for the treatment. The safety of Restylane for use during pregnancy, in breastfeeding females or in patients under 18 years has not been established so if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or under 18 you should wait to have the treatment done. Restylane should not be used in patients with known susceptibility to keloid formation or hypertrophic scarring. Also if you are considering laser treatment, chemical peeling or any other procedure based on active dermal response you should be aware of the potential risk of eliciting an inflammatory reaction at the implant site.

Having a follow-up treatment before the Restylane has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect. The treatment generally lasts for about six months. You will most likely discuss further treatment at your initial consultation. Before your treatment or follow up you should avoid certain vitamins, herbal supplements and anti-inflammatory medications for a week prior due to the increased risk of bruising and bleeding at the injection site.

Botox In Essex! Administered by Cosmetic Dentist Essex

Botox is probably the most talked about and popular cosmetic procedure of today. Since its release millions of women, and men have been rushing into the offices of the nearest practitioners to have the procedure done.

With the FDA approval for cosmetic procedure came the emergence of the trendy “Botox parties.” Practitioners began sending out invitations to potential candidates for food, drinks, conversation and a Botox injection. While the procedure itself is quick, and virtually painless you would be well advised to discuss the procedure with your doctor beforehand and schedule an appointment to have the treatment administered in a clinical setting, rather than at a social affair.

Botox is a trade name for the neurotoxin botulinum type A; a complex protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum.

The botulinum toxin acts as a nerve blocker and binds itself to the nerves leading to the muscle preventing the release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter that stimulates the muscle to contract. Botulism is a paralyzing form of food poisoning that occurs when the neurotoxin is ingested, the reason that it can be fatal is usually due to the paralysis of the respiratory muscles making it impossible to breath.

So in this way, Botox is related to the food borne illness, but that is where the similarities end. With controlled application the botulinum type A can be injected into specific muscles and alleviate many problems associated with muscle spasms, or involuntary contraction of the muscle. Botox Cosmetic, when injected into the corrugator and procerus muscles, temporarily prevents them from contracting and this is what reduces the appearance of glabellar, or frown lines. Basically if the muscles cannot contract, or scrunch up, the wrinkles go away.

Botox has been indicated in treatment of several medical conditions, and has been proven to successfully treat blepharospasm, a condition which causes the involuntary spasmodic contraction of certain eye muscles, strabismus, a manifest lack of parallelism of the visual axes of the eyes, or crossed eyes and cervical dystonia, a state of abnormal tension in any of the tissues resulting in the impairment of a person's voluntary movement in the neck area.

It has also been used to treat other dystonias, such as writer's cramp, as well as facial spasms, head and neck tremors and hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating. Other applications for which Botox may be useful are currently being investigated. By injecting the toxin into the affected muscles the spasms or contractions that normally occur are greatly reduced or eliminated. The effects of the treatment for these conditions can be seen and felt anywhere from a couple of hours to a couple of days after treatment, they are temporary and will last anywhere from three to eight months.

Botox Cosmetic is a simple non-surgical treatment that has been proven to treat moderate to severe glabellar, or frown lines and eliminates wrinkles temporarily. It is the only treatment of its kind approved by the FDA for use in adult patients aged 18-65. The FDA approved the use of Botox for cosmetic use in April of 2002 and before that it was approved for use to treat certain medical conditions since 1989. In the year 2005 there were over 3 million procedures performed.

The procedure itself takes about ten minutes and involves a few tiny injections. The injections go directly into the muscle and then it enters into the nerve endings to block the chemical that causes the muscle to contract. Once the muscles are at rest and can no longer contract the appearance of the skin becomes firmer and smoother and the lines or wrinkles that would normally be see are greatly diminished or eliminated altogether. The results of the treatment can usually be seen within hours and will last for about four months. Because the treatment targets only certain areas and only the muscles that are affected the risk of the toxin spreading is severely reduced.

A topical anesthetic is usually applied to the area that will be treated to numb the injection site. There is usually only minimal pain or discomfort associated with the actual injection but it does not persist past the process of injection. There is usually no downtime resulting from the procedure so return to work and normal activity can usually resume immediately. There is usually little to no bruising, bleeding, swelling, pain or other discomfort involved with the procedure.

It would seem only natural to think that there would be a lot of risk involved with injecting toxins into the body but in fact Botox injections are believed to be safe and result in few side effects. Any side effects that may arise from the treatments typically last no more than six months since the treatment itself is temporary. The most common, but rare side effects associated with treatment include bruising at the site of the injection, headache, respiratory infection, nausea, and flu like symptoms. In rare occurrences the Botox cosmetic may spread to adjoining muscles and cause temporary paralysis.

In less than 1% of patients this can cause drooping of the eyelid. Less frequently occurring side effects include pain in the face, erythema, or abnormal redness at the injection site, and muscle weakness. These adverse reactions occurred in less than 3% of patients and occurred within the first week of treatment. They are thought to be associated with the injection itself.

There are only few restrictions to who is eligible to receive treatment. Those who are pregnant or nursing are definitely ineligible. Those who suffer from neuromuscular disease have allergies to certain medications or who are taking certain medications should discuss this in depth with their physician, as they may not be eligible for treatment.

Any medications that are being taken should always be disclosed as certain medications; mostly antibiotics can alter the effects of Botox. Many people return for new treatments as soon as the effects start to wear off.

Tooth Whitening Essex -Instructions After Whitening!

You’ve worked hard to get your teeth bright and gorgeous, and you want them to stay that way. To keep your pearly whites gleaming and clean, try these three tips to keep stains at bay:

1. Drink through a straw to prevent liquid from reaching the front teeth.

2. Steer clear of dark-colored beverages like cola, coffee and red wine, which contain tannins that contribute to dental stains.

3. Opt for lightly colored fruits, like melon, and avoid dark-colored foods like berries and chocolate. A rule of thumb: If a food can stain your clothes, it will probably stain your teeth.
