Restylane is a safe and natural cosmetic filler that is immune to the drawbacks of other fillers because of its unique chemical composition. It is currently the first and only dermal filler approved by the FDA. What distinguishes Restylane from other dermal fillers is the way that it permeates the dermal tissue and naturally binds to water molecules. As hyaluronic acid gradually degrades, each molecule binds to more water and over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. While the treatment does not require any downtime or follow up care, there are some precautions that should be taken. You must avoid alcohol and exercise for six hours after the treatment as well as refrain from touching the area that was treated. Having a follow-up treatment before the Restylane has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect. The treatment generally lasts for about six months.
