The Real Cost of Teeth Whitening

Appraising The Real Cost Of Teeth Whitening

Whether you want to have a smile makeover for your prom night, or are just self-conscious since smoking cigarettes or drinking coffee have given you stained and yellow teeth, whitening remedies will surely brighten that smile and, hence, you can gain additional boost to your confidence. Learn some basic information about the nature of teeth whitening, categories of whitening methods and techniques, as well as teeth whitening costs of each method by reading the following selections. What does tooth whitening mean?

Tooth whitening lies under the field of cosmetic dentistry. The process itself eliminates stains and other discolorations on the teeth due to tea, coffee, smoking, and other lifestyle-related activities. Additionally, whitening can also lighten other usual teeth pigmentations.

The extent of improvement of teeth appearance and success of the treatment depend on the nature and the severity of the stains and/or teeth discoloration. Typically stains due to tea, coffee, or smoking will brighten between four and five shades. Moreover, discolorations that are due to antibiotics and hereditary factors, that is natural pigmentation can lighten between two and three shades after whitening treatments.

Teeth whitening remedies can be categorized into two:

1. Professional whitening systems

This is usually performed by dentists using whitening gels and lasers to activate the solution. This is normally done inside a dental clinic.

2. Home-based teeth whitening remedy

This could either be done in-between appointments of professional treatments using whitening kits and tray-based whitening technique or are just home-made remedies from kitchen and medicine items. These applications are usually done at home and according to the frequency suggested by dentists and/or by a product's instructions.

Regardless, teeth will noticeably be brighter after these teeth whitening methods. However, while there are a variety of over-the-counter whitening products and do-it-yourself or home-made whitening solutions, consulting a dentist and even a physician is the only way to validate the thousand and one claims of these remedies.

Aside from the available time and temperament of the patient, cost of teeth whitening treatments is also considered. Apparently, the cost of teeth whitening depends upon the type of teeth whitening method to be employed.

Costs of in-office dental whitening method usually lie between 500 and 700 pounds. On the other hand, home-based bleaching trays that are customized by dentists may cost between 100 and 300 pounds . Using home-made solutions are often inexpensive. Paint whiteners such as Crest Night Effect and Colgate Simply White Night may cost for as low as 25 pounds depending on the country to where these products are marketed.

Now ponder on these questions carefully, first, "To whiten or not to whiten?" then, "What are the common advantages and disadvantages of employing a whitening method?"

Nevertheless, any method applied on the surface of the teeth will surely result into brighter teeth, and hopefully a brighter smile. The length of time before the wanted results are achieved varies. Professional techniques are relatively immediate as compared to home-made remedies and over-the-counter whitening paints and kits.

However, peroxide-based gels used in the above mentioned methods of teeth whitening causes the teeth to become temporarily sensitive to cold and hot food, drinks, and even through exposure to air. Trays for whitening that are customized by dentists cause oversensitivity of the gums. Additionally, some of the whitening kits that are bought even without prescription may tear down and make the enamel of teeth thinner and thinner. This will expose the dentin, which may, in turn, be severely colored. These things, obviously, will add up to the cost of having that smile makeover.

Now come to think of it. Read again before you say, "Ahhhhh!"

Botox Injections in Essex- Saying Goodbye to Wrinkles.

Injections In Essex - Saying Goodbye To Wrinkles

To be perfectly honest botox was not a subject I was well informed about until I started researching it. Having learned so much about it, I would now like to share this information with people in cyberspace looking for answers.

Botox is the commercialized name for botulinum toxin type A, quite a mouthful indeed! It is used as a non surgical cosmetic treatment for wrinkles and frown lines of moderate to severe proportions. People within the ages of 16 to 65 can make use of botox injections in Essex.

How does botox work? It blocks nerve transmission temporarily reducing the contraction of the facial muscles which cause wrinkles and frown-lines. Botox is considered a safe enough procedure and has become an extremely popular method of getting rid of wrinkles.

Anyone considering botox injections in Essex should consult with a cosmetic doctor to have an evaluation done to find out whether they can go ahead with the treatment. Normally, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and people with certain disorders should avoid this type of treatment because it affects the nerves and muscles.

Botox Injections in Essex – The Procedure

The doctor administers several tiny botox injections directly into the muscles of the face. One of the reviews from a very satisfied customer that I read stated that botox injections in Essex are a highly effective treatment for wrinkles around the outer eye area. You can effectively dismiss the crow’s feet that bother you every time you glance in a mirror.

The entire botox injections in Essex procedure does not last more than a mere 10 minutes. No anesthesia is required nor is it administered and the discomfort if any you will feel will be very minimal.

This procedure may be performed once every 4 months; however this is subject to the patient’s physical makeup and the doctor’s recommendation. Repeated treatments tend to thin the muscles making the effects last longer.

Botox is a neuro toxin, in other words it has a paralyzing effect on the muscles it is injected into and relaxes them. With sufficient treatments the frown lines gradually start to fade and even disappear completely. Botox is also a popular method for treating crow’s feet and forehead lines. The injections which contain the purified form of botulinum toxin are considered very safe when used in cosmetic procedure.

The downside to taking botox injections in Essex may be summed up to include:

- Headaches

- Temporary drooping of eyelids

- Nausea

- Flu symptoms

- Twitching of the eye

- Facial pain

- Squinting and possible double vision

- Muscle weakness

- Redness around the area of the injection

The symptoms manifest themselves differently in each person and some people have no side effects save for a slight discomfort.
Anyone worried about the side effects of botox need not worry too much, this is an FDA approved product and anyway dermatologists inject mere trace amounts into the fine muscles of the face. As such the risk of complications is so minimal as to be non-existent.

Botox in Essex- Is it the Fountain of Youth?

Would you consider turning down an opportunity to look younger? When you look younger you automatically feel younger and this is a truly great feeling. Zap those tired looking lines right out of your face! Get the frown lines and the forehead lines to fade away and become a distant memory. If you think I am talking hot air do read all about Botox in Essex in this article.

Botox in Essex is administered in injection form in miniscule trace amounts that have no harmful effects. People are on a constant quest for youth and have been since time immemorial. Do you remember Cleopatra and all the beautification methods she adopted to stay young – she even bathed in ass’ milk! History is full of famous people who did many weird things to stay young.

Today, thanks to modern technology and the advancements we have made in the medical field, botox in Essex is being touted as the number one youth enhancer. It does work as results have shown time and time again.

Botox in Essex is derived from botulinum toxin which was actually discovered some 50 odd years ago in the search for treatment for mental disorders. The Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in America approved its use for treating vision problems. From then on there have been untiring efforts to increase the uses of this powerful drug.

In 2002 the FDA approved the use of botox to be injected in minute quantities directly into the facial muscles to relax them, soften the frown lines and help to slowly fade them away.

Wrinkles and frown lines are natural; every time you laugh or frown you are creasing up your face and over time these lines begin to deepen. Skin creams have attempted to soothe away the lines but have not been too successful. Botox in Essex actually paralyzes the facial muscles, therefore rendering common, everyday expressions impossible to make.

Overuse of botox will leave you looking like a dummy – no facial expression whatsoever and some people even have that taut, skin stretched too tight look. When this happens the very purpose for which the botox was used, namely to regain your youthful look is lost.

There are people who are under the misconception that botox leaves you paralyzed for simply ages. You couldn’t be more wrong! What botox does is prevent the facial muscles from contracting so that frown lines and wrinkles do not form. Botox in Essex is nothing more than minute, purified amounts of botox injected directly into specific muscles to prevent the nerve cells from send the muscles signals to contract.

While botox can have a long term effect on removing the lines it is not a permanent solution and will need to be repeated every so often. It is however, a safe, non surgical, non invasive method to bring back your youthful looks. You can visit your dermatologist once every 4 months if necessary for botox treatment.

Botox has been termed the Fountain of Youth in a needle!

The Lowdown on Wrinkles

The Lowdown On Wrinkles

What can be a more refreshing way to relieve one's self of the daily grind of work than to go out to the beach and stay in the sun....but wait till you hear the lowdown on wrinkles.

It is a fact that skin ages, as much as our physical appearance and it does that all over our body, especially on parts of the skin that is most often exposed to the sun.

These ageing come in the form of changes brought on by sun damage called photoaging, characterized by dryness or roughness, sagginess, skin growths called "liver spots" or keratoses and – commonly – wrinkles.

There are two categories for wrinkles, which involves two varying degrees of wrinkle development, which are fine surface lines and deep skin furrows, for which common and general wrinkle treatments are more effective for the former, but the latter would require more aggressive treatments like long-term dermatological or plastic surgery.

Among the primary factors that contribute to skin wrinkles are smoking, which dries out the skin since it reduces moisture; skin type as well, since people with light-colored skin and blue eyes are susceptible to sun damage; hereditary peculiarities since there are family lines that are more prone to skin wrinkles; hairstyle, which obviously depends on how much skin is covered by the hair and protected from the sun; dress style, since this will also determine how much skin is covered or left exposed to the sun; and finally, recreational and occupational sun exposure that may spans over a period of years.

Currently, there are a lot of treatments available in the market today, both over the counter and prescription treatments, among them, Vitamin A acid, alpha hydroxy acids, antioxidants and moisturizers.

These treatment methods also include cosmetic procedures like glycolic acid peels deep peels, dermabrasion, laser resurfacing, surgical procedures and the ever popular Botox. There is a popular belief that chronic stress can be a cause of aging in people, thus, the appearance of skin wrinkles, but most of these evidences are not specifically based on scientific findings, rather, more on people's observations and perceptions.

There is, however, a little-known yet significant study back in 2004 that established the link between between chronic stress and aging.

The study revealed that telomeres, these are structures located at the end of chromosomes that6 shorten with aging, also tend to shorten prematurely in subjects that are subjected to long-term psychological stress, resulting to prematurely "aging" cells.

Although the results of this study shows a link between cellular aging and stress, the direct relationship of stress on aging is far complex and has not yet been fully understood nor backed with incontrovertible findings. However, it could still be considered an ounce of prevention to keep stress at bay, since it can indeed have adverse effects on physical and emotional health.

Anybody concerned about getting wrinkles or other signs of aging should still be advised to practice a healthy and, better, a stress-free lifestyle or if not possible, even just keeping stress levels under control.

Finally, exposure to ultraviolet light, whether UVA or UVB, from sunlight accounts for most symptoms of premature skin aging, especially since most of the photoaging effects occur by the late teenage years around 19-20 years and so on.

Thus, the amount of damage to the skin, especially the presence of wrinkles is determined by the total lifetime of exposure to radiation and the person's pigment protection.

These may be the lowdown on wrinkles, but don't be anxious, with all the tips and treatments available everywhere, there's no need to hide and fear wrinkles

Short Term Wrinkle Solutions

Short Term Wrinkle Solutions

Wrinkles happen as we age. If you can't afford plastic surgery, there are short term wrinkle solutions you can use. The best part is that there are very few risks so you just have to consult with you dermatologist. Let's talk about each one in alphabetical order.

First is Botox which has been around for over 10 years. This is a protein toxin produced by the clostridium botulinum bacteria that is injected in small amounts into the body helping the muscles relax and make the lines disappear. It is effective in treating crow's feet, forehead wrinkles, frown lines and laugh lines despite the fact that some studies show it causes new wrinkles to appear. It is good for 3 to 6 months and can be repeated.

Similar to Botox is collagen which has been used for over 25 years. It is used primarily as a tissue filler to soften lines around the mouth, to help augment lips, correct early degrees of muscle loss and erase acne scars. The injection is good for only 3 to 4 months. Before you can be injected with this protein, doctors will have to do some skin tests first to make sure you are not allergic.

There is a treatment called autologous fat transfer. Here, fat is removed from one part of the body and then it is used to fill the gaps caused by the wrinkles. Usually, fat is extracted from the buttocks, stomach or thighs. Since the patient's fat is being used, there is no chance of allergic reactions taking place.

Another soft tissue filler is Restylane that is considered to be an injectable cosmetic treatment. This comes from hyaluronic acid which has proven to be very successful in Canada and Europe. Basically, this is a gel that is a basic component of the human skin. Unlike other procedures that fill in the gaps caused by wrinkles, this lets the skin cells "float" making it very suitable for large folds of skin often seen in the mouth and cheeks. This is effective for about 6 to 9 months with low incidence of allergic reactions.

Then there is also Hylaform which is an alternative to collagen and those who want to use it do not have to undergo an allergy test. Just like the rest, this has to be injected into the skin at regular intervals in order to treat wrinkles.

The procedures mentioned are not covered by insurance and do not have any health benefits. The only thing it can do is hide away those wrinkles for a few months and when they start to appear again, you have to go back to your dermatologist for the next treatment.

Apart from the short term wrinkle solutions, there are also home made treatments which you can use to treat and prevent pimples. Most of these use simple things you can buy at the grocery and you may have to mix some of them. You should clean your face first so the pores will open and it can be absorbed by the skin, left to dry before it is rinsed.

So are short term wrinkle solutions the way to go? If you want to avoid the pain that is often endured with other costly treatments and the long recovery time, then the answer is yes

Botox for Migraines!

Poison The Pain – Botox For Migraines

Botox can make you look better. Did you know it could also make you feel better? Moreover, we are not just talking about self-esteem here. Migraineurs looking to smooth out some wrinkles in their foreheads discovered a happy side effect of the cosmetic treatment—fewer migraines.

Botox, botulinum toxin type A, is a neurotoxin most famous for its use in smoothing wrinkles. The FDA originally approved it in 1989 as a treatment for eye muscle disorders, and the cosmetic use came later.

Botox is thought to work by weakening or paralyzing the muscles by stopping or slowing the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine (ACh). ACh transmit the signal from nerve to nerve to cause muscle contraction. When ACh production is inhibited muscles relax, including those that cause wrinkles.

Acetylcholine is also a neuromodulator. This means it affects how other neurotransmitters function. ACh alternately excites and sedates nerve endings, and it is this ability to suppress excitability that may help migraine patients. One theory on migraine causes is based on the idea of a cascade of nerve excitement in the brain that agitates the arteries in the brain. This in turn stimulates nerve sensitivity, which further inflames the artery, in a vicious circle.

Botulinum toxin is the same agent produced by spoiled food that causes botulism. When used medically, the toxin is injected straight into the muscles and not absorbed into the bloodstream. The dose of toxin required to cause botulism is significantly larger than used in medical applications.

Like most prophylactic migraine treatments, Botox injections may take several weeks to become effective. Depending on the study, Botox has proven effective at reducing migraines for 60-90% of study participants. Injections should be given at least three months apart and the effects should last ten to thirteen weeks. Botox is not currently FDA approved as a migraine treatment.
