Botox Injections contain poisonous Botulinium Toxin , which is injected into the corrugator facial muscles to paralyse them,the idea being that because the muscles cant move, they cant form or deepen wrinkles.
Botox is used usually to reduce or relax frown lines, forehead lines and crows feet around the eyes.
The toxin cannot cause any permanent damage or travel around the body because it attaches itself to the muscle where it was injected. It is then destroyed by the body after 3-6 months.
Initially there can be some bruising at the injection site or tiny red pinpricks.
The injection gradually takes effect over the face following a period of 5 to 10 days, giving the face a smoother and rested appearance.
The results are temporary and will last for between 3 to 6 months.
